On November 11th, St. Luke Nepean will be hosting our Remebrance Day ceremony for our school community at 10:30 am.
From October 24 through to Remembrance Day - November 11th, millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to never forget those who served and sacrificed. The red flower also is the symbol of the Legion's Poppy Campaign, raising funds to support Veterans and their families.
Students at St. Luke Nepean will be given a Poppy on November 11th in their homeroom class.
As we have done for a number of years now, we will be putting up a “WALL OF HONOUR” filled with names of family members who have served in the World Wars, other wars around the world, in peacekeeping missions, and who are active in military service today.
More information on how to submit names is available in a longer information letter here. A photo of what the Wall looked like last year is also included in that letter.
Thank you for helping to keep the memories and sacrifices of the brave men and women of our military services alive in the hearts and minds of the children of today!
In order to ensure the safety of all students parents/guardians are required to report all absences, including those on inclement weather/bus cancellation days. When buses are cancelled due to inclement weather, schools will remain open unless otherwise notified. If your child is unable to attend school on an Inclement Weather day please report their absence as you would on any other school day.
SafeArrival can be used for reporting - enter Absent Approved (AA) with a comment of “bus cancellation” or “inclement weather”. This is an important step in ensuring every student is accounted for every day.
We want to reminds all parents, caregivers and drivers that school zone safety is everyone's responsibility!
Whether you're dropping off children, driving through a school zone or walking to school, please help keep our school communities safe:
Please use Crosswalks with the Crossing Guards when crossing Mountshannon
Respect school crossing guards and always follow their directions. Drivers must remain stopped until the guard and everyone they are assisting have safely reached the curb. It’s the law!
Slow down and obey posted speed limits and No Parking areas in school zones.
Stay alert and avoid distractions, especially around schools and crosswalks.
Use designated drop-off and pick-up areas and avoid unsafe stopping, parking or U-turns.
Watch for children walking, cycling or crossing, especially during busy arrival and dismissal times. Children can be unpredictable – vigilance is key!
Be patient and courteous with crossing guards, pedestrians and other road users.
