Welcome back to another year of learning, growing and recycling at St. Luke School. We have many recycling projects on the go this school year that we would like you to be aware of. Please take part in our initiatives and help teach your children the importance of being stewards of the environment. This summer, the City of Ottawa approved the use of plastic bags in green bins for composting. Do you find you still have a lot of plastic bags you would rather not throw away? Bring your clean, dry plastic bags to St. Luke where we have bag recycling. Our plastic bag bins in the school get emptied and used by Trex Composite Decking Materials to make deck boards (www.trex.com) keeping plastic out of landfills. We also have Shoe recycling at school. Shoes can be dropped off to be recycled and sent into the community and beyond thanks to soles4souls.org. St. Luke continues the Crayola Colour Cycle program. All brands of dried out markers can be submitted to the marker recycling bottles in each class. We continue to recycle blue and black box items in class. Stay tuned for more eco initiatives coming soon! __________________________________________________________________ Terry Fox Walk/Run/Roll St. Luke School will be participating in the Terry Fox National School Run on Friday, September 20th.
