Thanksgiving Blessing

O God, We thank you for this earth, our home; for the wide sky and the blessed sun, for the ocean and streams, for the towering hills and the whispering wind, for the trees and green grass. We thank you for our senses by which we hear the songs of birds, and see the splendor of fields of golden wheat, and taste autumn's fruit, rejoice in the feel of snow, and smell the breath of spring flowers. Grant us a heart opened wide to all this beauty; and save us from being so blind that we pass unseeing when even the common thornbush is aflame with your glory. For each new dawn is filled with infinite possibilities for new beginnings and new discoveries. Life is constantly changing and renewing itself. In this new day of new beginnings with God, all things are possible. We are restored and renewed in a joyous awakening to the wonder that our lives are and, yet, can be. Amen.”

Thank You!

On behalf of the St. Luke staff, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your support for a number of initiatives and events that have happened over the past two weeks.

First off, we would like to thank our school community for once again supporting our Fall Food Drive for the Barrhaven Food Cupboard. With the recent weather and power outages that affected many residence in Ottawa and the surrounding area, our food banks are in such great need of our support. Your generosity has been greatly appreciated not only by our staff but also by the Barrhaven Food Cupboard and those who benefit from your donations. Thank you.

In addition, thank you for supporting our Terry Fox Walk/Run/Roll event. This year our school community raised $831.75. All funds raised will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation. A great time was had by all while continuing on a yearly tradition at St. Luke. Thank you for your support!

Last week, we also raised awareness and educated our students and community on the history and legacy of the Residential School system. Students and staff wore orange shirts on Monday and participated in a rally letting others know that “Every Child Matters”.

Not only should we thank our wonderful school community, but also the staff that put together and organize these memorable, worthy and educational events. Their hard work, dedication and time is greatly appreciated and definitely doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you! ____________________________________________________________________
