ECO Schools Message Dear St. Luke families, Our school is enrolled in a large battery recycling challenge beginning today until earth day 2019 in April. We are competing against 200 other schools in Ontario for a grand cash prize. The school that collects the most batteries for recycling wins. Families are encouraged to bring batteries from home to recycle at school. All sorts of household batteries are accepted in the recycling challenge. Collection pails are located throughout the school to facilitate recycling. Recycling batteries keeps harmful chemicals out of landfill sites. Please see the following link for more details and information. https://www.rawmaterials.com/ontario-school-recycling-challenge/ Thanks from the St. Luke Planetpals Eco Club ____________________________________________________________________ Message from Catholic School Council (CSC) PIZZA LUNCH UPDATE: Dear Parents/ Guardians, now that class lists have been finalized, here are the dates for the remaining pizza days in Term 1: October 17, 24 & 31 November 8, 14, 21 & 28 December 5, 12 & 19 January 9, 16, 23 & 30 February 6, 13, 20 & 27 Please note that November 8th is a Thursday and not a Wednesday as all others. Should you have any questions, please let us know via email at stlukecouncil@gmail.com Thank you ____________________________________________________________________ Halloween Costume Day Students are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to school on Wednesday, October 31st. Students are encouraged to bring a 2$ donation for our United Way Fundraiser. Thank you kindly in advance for your support. A few requests in regards to Halloween costumes… Please no masks, props, such as wands, swords, lightsabers, etc., as these can interfere with safe play, and can be distracting while in class. Also, please understand that your child will be involved in a regular school day, so the costume needs to be able to withstand all regular school activities, including going to the washroom by him/herself. We thank you for your cooperation. We certainly don’t want any disappointed children if the costume is ruined before they head out to trick-or-treat! ____________________________________________________________________ Please visit our school WEBSITE for additional information throughout the year as well as a calendar with all important dates and times for various events.
