Remembrance Day

Planning has begun on this year’s Remembrance Day service that will be held at the school on November 11. The Grade 4 students will be leading the service beginning at 10:45 a.m. in the gym. Everyone is welcome to attend.

As we have done for a number of years now, we would like to build a “Wall of Honour” to acknowledge family members who, as members of our Armed Forces, have served in the World Wars, other wars around the world, and in peacekeeping missions. We would very much like to include in our display family members currently active in military service.

NOTE: If you have contributed a name since this tradition started at St. Luke in 2004,the posters have been kept and will be used again. There is no need to submit the name again this year. If uncertain, feel free to have your child check with Miss Basten.

If you have names that you would like to be added to this Honour Roll, please make note of as much of the following information as possible: the person’s name the relationship to the student (e.g. John and Susie Smith’s grandfather) the rank (e.g. Lieutenant) the person’s role while in service (e.g. Soldier in World War 2) any other interesting information (e.g. Landed on Juno Beach on D-Day) some students have provided a copy of a photograph of the person.

The information provided for each person will be published here at school on a separate sheet of paper and then posted in the hall leading to the gym in the days around Remembrance Day. Students, staff and visitors will be invited to spend some time after the service to look over the names and stories of these courageous men and women.

If any member of the Honour Roll is available to attend our Remembrance Day service, we would be honoured to have them attend. Please let us know ahead of time who will attend and we will have a special welcome waiting for them.

Thank you for helping to keep the memories and sacrifices of the brave men and women of our military services alive in the hearts and minds of the children of today.

Important Message!

We are kindly asking that students refrain from bringing Pokemon cards and Beyblades to school. For the past few weeks, it has been brought to our attention that there has been numerous conflicts among students during recess which revolve around these two items. Any personal items as such should remain at home, please. Please also note that staff are not responsible for personal items that are brought to school and/or are not responsible for lost or damaged items. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.
