____________________________________________________________________ Movember Update In an effort to raise awareness and money toward men’s health issues, St. Luke is taking on its 7th annual Movember fundraising campaign. Students are encouraged to bring in a toonie, or whatever they can afford, to class between November 14th and the 23rd . The top five classes who bring in the most Movember contributions will earn the right to dye and shave the St. Luke Mo Bros new moustaches. This will take place on Friday, November 30th. Later that day, the same day as our school’s Catholic Graduate Expectations (CGE) assembly, a representative from the five winning classes will come up and shave those newly coloured moustaches. Additionally, on Friday, November 30th, students will receive a Movember moustache sticker to wear for the day. Our goal this year is to raise $600 toward our Movember campaign. Thank you in advance for your support of our Movember initiative! Grow it! Dye it! Shave it! Advent … a time for waiting and anticipating; a time to prepare our hearts to receive God’s gift of His Son, Jesus. To help us experience the loving act of sharing and giving to those less fortunate, we invite our community to participate in our Advent outreach project: The Angel Tree Campaign. Here’s how it works: you will receive a hard copy of a paper angel from your child, and a list of ways to contribute. If you wish to participate, please select the item(s) which you wish to contribute , attach the angel to it, and then send to school with your child. No item is too big, or too small. Please bring any items, unwrapped, to the school, with the angel tag, by Friday, December 14th. With your support, we can make a difference in the lives of some children this Christmas. Our front lobby display case has a fireplace titled, “The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, along with hats, scarves and mittens for everyone to SHARE”. These items that we collect will be given to the Youville Centre to help make a child's Christmas a little brighter and warmer. Please make sure these items are at the school by Friday. Dec.14th We will also have 2 spirit theme days during Advent, where we will collect $2 from students and staff. It will be Wear Your Favourite Sports Jersey Day, Wednesday, November 28th. We will have a Wear Your Christmas Colours/ Ugly Sweater Day on Friday, December 7th. All proceeds will go to supporting families in need here in our St Luke School Community. The act of getting our students directly involved in charitable giving at home and at school lets them take responsibility for helping others who are less fortunate than themselves, building empathy and a sense of belonging to a community. We thank you in advance for your generosity. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers if you have any questions.
