  • Today is Franco-Ontarian flag day. French teachers will be doing all sorts of special activities in their classes to celebrate French. Staff and students are asked to wear green or white to help celebrate.

Fall Food Drive in support of the Barrhaven Food Cupboard

Last week, we launched our fall food drive in support of the Barrhaven Food Cupboard. Many thanks to those who have already contributed. We will continue collecting non-perishable food items this week. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.

St. Luke School will be participating in the Terry Fox National School Run on Friday, September 28th. After a kick-off cheer at 1:00 pm, classes will walk, run and roll for 30 minutes around a course set up on the playground in an effort to “Be Like Terry”. Students are encouraged to donate a “Toonie for Terry”. Money that will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation. Thank you to everyone that came out to the Catholic School Council Meeting / Elections.  During this meeting, a revised constitution was presented and approved by the school community.  This will be posted on the school website shortly. The elections were also held and the following are your Catholic School Council Representatives for the 2018 - 2019 School Year:

We welcome the returning members and are very happy to see 3 new members on the St. Luke Catholic School Council.  We look forward to an amazing year ahead as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of St. Luke, Nepean. Our next Catholic School Council meeting will be held on Wednesday October 17, 2018 at 6:30pm in the learning commons.  At that time, the remaining dates will be set. Please remember that you do not have to be a voting member of council to join the meetings. All parents/caregivers at St. Luke are welcomed to attend. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!


The Board of Trustees has adopted a revised policy regarding volunteers in OCSB schools. Volunteers are required to have a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) in order to work with students, or a Criminal Records (CR) Check if not working directly with students. Apply online with the Ottawa Police Service.

Anxiety in School-Aged Children

Both parents and teachers are expressing increased concern about the number of children exhibiting anxiety. This talk will explore what some of the causes may be and some strategies for helping.
